Summary
[edit]DescriptionFerrybridge 'Flyover' Bridge - geograph.org.uk - 225094.jpg |
English: Ferrybridge 'Flyover' Bridge. This dual carriageway bridge was built in the mid 1960s to replace the old Bridge at Ferrybridge. It is situated just downstream of the old Ferrybridge, but the northern end of each structure meet the northern bank of the river at the same point.
This bridge itself ceased to carry the main A1 Trunk road across the River Aire in 2005, when a new road and bridge was built to take the A1 around the western edge of Ferrybridge power station instead of the western side. The 'Flyover' now carried just local traffic between Brotherton and Ferrybridge. |
