Winner 1949 24 Hours of LeMans For many enthusiasts the 24 Hours of LeMans is the most important race in the world, and this is the first Ferrari ever to win that event. Luigi Chinetti and Lord Selsdon were the drivers at LeMans, but Selsdon was ill the day of the race, and drove only 20 minutes; Chinetti drove 23 hours and 40 minutes of the 24 hours. That feat and the performance and reliability of the Ferrari helped establish the company's reputation. |
