arm-lemperate forest regions on the cast side of Mexico. Schiedefound it at Jalapa and Misantla; Liebmann gathered it aroundMirador. Fronds bipinnate. Segments almost triangular throughoutthe frond, decrescent. Kachis and stipes pubescent. Length of frond usually from twelve to twenty-four inches.Liebmann has specimens forty-eight inches in length. Colourrich green. 102 POLYPODIUM CONCTNNUM. There is a divided opinion as to whether the present speciesbelongs to Aspidium or Pohjpodium. Some authors think thatthey have seen an indusium, and others have failed to tracethe slightest approach to one. In general appearance it bearsa striking resemblance to some species of Aspidiums, andtherefore as striking a dissimilarity to the chief portion of thegenus Polypodium. For plants I am indebted to Mr. Joseph Henderson, ofWentworth, and to Messrs. Booth, of Hamburg. It may be procured of Mr. Sim, of Foots Cray, and Messrs.Booth, of Hamburg. The illustration is from a plant in my own collection.
