Text Appearing Before Image:
r. An evergreen stove Fern. Native of the East Indies and Malacca. The fronds, which are deeply pinnatifid, are rigid and tri-angularly-elongate. Pinnse alternate and elongate, apex endingin a fine point, about twenty pairs and an ultimate one. 126 POLYPODIUM CORONANS. Veins external, elevated, prominent, compound anastomosing,and forming quadrate areoles. Stipes, rachis, and primary veins a pinkish brown. Sori oblique and uniserial, brown, oblong. Length of frond from two to three feet; colour a blue green;length of pinnae about ten or twelve inches; width rather morethan an inch. As soon as the present species can be procured, it shouldfind its way into every collection. It will make a glorious-looking exhibition plant; unfortunately it may be some yearsbefore we shall be able to see it in ordinary collections. For a frond of P. coronans I am indebted to Mr. J. Smith,Curator of the Royal Gardens, Kew. It is not in any Nurserymans Catalogue. The illustration is from Mr. Smiths frond.
