species but little known. An evergreen stove Fern. Native of the East Indies. The fronds, which are pinnate, are somewhat lanceolate inform, being widest in the centre of the frond, narrowing bothto the base and apex. Pinnae pinnatifid and linear-lanceolate;apex acuminate, sub-opposite, the three lower pairs distant, theothers approximate. Pinnules rounded and simple, except thebasal ones in the three lowest pinnee, which are pinnatifid; theinferior basal one is nearly twice the size of the others. Veins pinnate, apices free and club-headed.VOL. II. Q 112 POLYPODIUM AURITUM. Stipes, rachis, veins, and margin of frond densely yet mi-nutely hirsute. Length of frond about sixteen inches, of which the lowerfour inches is naked. Colour deep green, paler beneath. Yeins very conspicuousj darker in colour than the frond. My thanks are due to Mr. R.
