| Description |
Deutsch: Ostsüdostansicht des Fernheizkraftwerkes Mellach in der steiermärkischen Gemeinde Fernitz-Mellach. Das Fernheizkraftwerk Mellach mit einem 175 m hohen, freistehenden Kamin wurde ab 1983 durch die Steirische Wasserkraft- und Elektrizitäts-AG erbaut und 1986 in Betrieb genommenː [1]. Konzipiert war es damals mit dem Hauptbrennstoff Steinkohle für die Erzeugung von Strom und Fernwärme. Im April 2020 wurde die Verfeuerung von Steinkohle beendet und auf den Hauptbrennstoff Erdgas umgestellt. Seit diesem Zeitpunkt steht das FHKW Mellach für das sog. Engpassmanagement, also zur Absicherung der Netzstabilität zur Verfügung. Die elektrische Leistung des nunmehr mit Erdgas befeuerten Kraftwerks beträgt 178 MW, wovon 165 MW ins Netz gespeist werden. Im Fernheizkraftwerk Mellach kann das Prinzip der Kraft-Wärme-Koppelung angewandt werden, d.h. es kann eine gleichzeitige Erzeugung von elektrischer und thermischer Energie erfolgen. Dabei liegt die maximale Fernwärmeleistung derzeit bei ca. 180 MW (Infoblatt des Verbundes, Aug. 2021). |
