Summary
[edit]DescriptionFernando o Santo Infante.PNG |
English: Detail of saint in the "Panel of the Archbishop" (fourth panel of the St. Vincent panels, usually dated c.1470, attributed to painter Nuno Gonçalves). Figure is most commonly identified as St. Vincent, patron saint of Lisbon, the identification currently adhered to by the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga (MNAA) in Lisbon, the holder of the panels. A recent controversial book (Almeida and Albuquerque, 2000) disputes this identification, dates the painting 1445 and proposes instead it is an image of Ferdinand the Holy Prince. |
