Description
Español: Retrato del rey Fernando VII de España (1784-1833). Es una obra con fines propagandísticos y oficiales, aunque algunos autores destacan que el monarca es mostrado con una «gran frialdad» e incluso «antipatía». Pero a pesar de ello esta obra es considerada uno de los mejores retratos que Francisco de Goya pintó del monarca cuando este regresó a España al término de la Guerra de la Independencia. Y esta obra, junto con el Retrato del Duque de San Carlos, que también se conserva en el Museo de Zaragoza, le fue encargada a Goya en septiembre de 1814 por la Junta del Canal Imperial de Aragón a propuesta de Martín de Garay, que poco antes había sido designado protector del mencionado Canal.
