Description
English: It was from the Garcilaso de la Vega narrative (1609) of the de Soto expedition (1539-43) that the great river of de Soto, the Chucagua, was first mentioned in history. Through the French in the 1670s, La Salle, particularly, that it was to become the name of the modern city.
