Animal characteristics: Head-Body Length: 110-145 cm; Weight: 24-75 kg; Identification: The bushbuck has a short coat in varying shades of brown, white transverse and vertical body stripes, a black band from the eyes to the muzzle, a white spot on its cheek, and two white throat patches; Habitat: Regions with dense cover; Diet: Herbivore: specific diet widely varies; Reproduction: Bushbucks have a very weakly defined breeding season. After a gestation period of five months, the female gives birth to a single calf. Weaning takes place when the calf is 3-6 months old. Females may have two calves each year; Social Structure: Bushbucks can often be seen in small herds of 2-3 animals; Behavior: These animals are slightly territorial; Status: No special status; Interesting Facts: Bushbucks may serve as reservoirs for sleeping sickness.
