Felipe Moran Meza (Guadalajara City, May 1, 1977) is a Mexican filmmaker who lives in Guadalajara, Jalisco. In his works, he addresses the issue of gender, identity, history and native peoples. Felipe Moran (Arriero Moran) Documentary Film Director, Photographer and Actor
Trajectory Felipe Moran Meza or better known as Arriero Moran studied communication sciences at the Universidad del Valle de Atemajac UNIVA. In 2004 he moved to the city of Madrid, Spain to take a diploma in administration and screenwriting from the Forma y Trama Institute. During his stay in the community of Madrid, he worked as a freelance doing photography and graphic design in different projects, such as Vía Íntima or having been present, with camera in hand, in the attacks on the Atocha metro in 11M Back in Mexico in 2005, he joined the TVF production house belonging to the Promomedios de Occidente group, where he worked as a director of sections for six daily television programs. That same year he was called to be part of the first audiovisual production team of the Jalisco State Congress where he created a program called A Favor. Already in the year 2011 he traveled again to Spain, to the city of Barcelona to study the master's degree in Documentary Film, at the Barcelona Film School, ECIB. It is here where he professionally made his first three documentary film appearances: Visto para Sentencia, 10 cm. Mes a Prop del Cel and Los Fantasmas del Call Jueu.
Once he finished his master's degree in Documentary Film, Felipe Moran returned to Mexico to continue working in the Jalisco State Congress and taking advantage of the recently acquired knowledge, he created the production house of Arriero Docs. Already installed in Guadalajara, Felipe Moran Meza and Raquel Rey participated with the Documentary 10 cm. Mes a Prop del Cel at the Guadalajara FICG International Film Festival, obtaining very good reviews from the public. From 2013 to 2018, he alternated his work in the State Congress and in his nascent production house where he made his first documentary works, but it was not until 2016 that he created his first film called, Muchacha, Estás Casada?, a film that portrays the daily life of a gypsy community that tries to blend in with a neighborhood in Guadalajara; This documentary was premiered at the Anthropofest festival that is held every two years in the city of Prague, Czech Republic. By the year 2018 his expertise was taking shape and that is when the Government of the State of Jalisco invited him to be part of his team as head of photo and video of the Coordination of Social Development. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he was in charge of photographing everything related to this subject from start to finish and some already nicknamed him the photographer of the pandemic.
In 2022, he began to collaborate with the Canal Parlamento de Jalisco in the making of documentaries.
