Summary
[edit]DescriptionFeeding a Fledgling Kestrel (14371666559).jpg |
Some research studies have shown that Eurasian Kestrels either feed their fledglings by tearing the prey and offering mouthfuls or by giving them the whole prey to swallow. A particular adult usually adopts one method of feeding. This female had been passing over the prey for the fledglings to swallow. Suddenly, she grabbed back a mouse from one of the youngsters and insisted on feeding it herself. The fledgling went along with this until it saw a chance and took back the mouse and flew to a different tree to eat it. Sorry about that branch - they were just being awkward!!! |
