Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Father Albert Montiton (July 20, 1825 - February 25, 1894), a Frenchman, was assigned to help Father Damien. He believed that leprosy was transmitted by sexually immoral people and was the result of syphilis, and he also accused Father Damien of sexual immorality. He put Father Damien through a bad period by invading his territory, ordering him around and telling him how to be a priest. However, Father Albert was a sick man with elephantiasis and was later transferred out of Molokai for health reasons. Sacred Hearts Archives, Rome.
