English: NAVAL STATION GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba - U.S. Coast Guard Lt.j.g. Thomas Wieland, Public Affairs Officer of Maritime Safety and Security Team Boston (91110) films a father's day message for his family at the Naval Station Guantanamo boathouse, June 15. Wieland was one of more than 15 Coast Guardsmen deployed to Joint Task Force Guantanamo, who sent home video messages through their public affairs video team. JTF Guantanamo provides safe, humane, legal and transparent care and custody of detainees, including those convicted by military commission and those ordered released by a court. The JTF conducts intelligence collection, analysis and dissemination for the protection of detainees and personnel working in JTF Guantanamo facilities and in support of the War on Terror. JTF Guantanamo provides support to the Office of military Commissions, to law enforcement and to war crimes investigations.
