Title
Farthings of Charles I
Description
English: Nine Rose farthings of Charles I. The two sceptres flory in saltire represent his two kingdoms of England and Scotland, unified in one crown. The saltire represents the Cross of St Andrew, patron saint of Scotland. The fleur-de-lys on the tip of each saltire represents his claim to the kingdom of France. Farthings issued by earlier kings of England displayed a cross overlaid by the royal arms.
