What product of the garden is so eagerly awaitedas the first Sweet Corn of the season? — not thetasteless, discouraged, premature corn, shipped fromlong distances, worthless when picked and unfit forfood when it arrives, but the real, tender, juicySweet Corn ready for use before the summer hasreally commenced. Such a Sweet Corn is Peep oDay. Other characteristics of the Peep o Day in ad-dition to its extreme earliness are its tenderness andsweetness, surpassing in these particulars any otherearly Sweet Corn. Description and Cultivation. The ears of Peep o Day corn average about 6inches in length and are perfect in form. In habitof growth Peep o Day is very distinct. The stalksgrow from 3 to 4 feet in height, 3 to 5 ears onthe stalk. The stalks being so small they may beallowed to stand very closely together. The seedmay be planted either in hills or in rows.
