Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Farnton Hill, Long Riston, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
Looking west-northwest along the public footpath on the parish boundary between Rise and Riston. There has been a training course for race horses here since the 19th century and the first circular track around Farnton Hill may have been created by William Bethell of Rise, whose horse won the St. Leger in 1780. There is a 'no entry' sign on every track leading onto the hill, the highest point of which is only 23 metres above sea level. A track of sand mixed with wool runs alongside the footpath to Long Riston village.
