HARDY PERENNIAL POPPIES
ORIENTAL POPPIES.
Oriental Popples should be sown in early spring in the open ground as soon as
it is flt to work. The plants disappear during July or August, appearing again as
soon as the weather gets cool. When this fall growth starts is the time they
should be transplanted to their permanent flowering quarters. It is well to mark
the places they are planted with a stake to insure the roots against disturbance
during their annual resting period.

habit, with bright green, fern-like foliage, formed In tufts, from which issue
slender stalks about 12 inches high, bearing their brilliant flowers in endless pro-
fusion; most useful for cutting, for which purpose pick when in bud, and, if the
seed pods are picked off, continue in flower the entire season. They remain ever-
green throughout the winter, coming into bloom early the following spring.
