Summary
[edit]DescriptionFar view of the beautiful Wat in CM (14740034625).jpg | The ornate Ho Monthian Tham Dhamma hall at Wat Bupparam in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I will put in notes about the Wat Buppharam (also spelt Wat Bupparam or Wat Bopharam) in subsequent captions, but first notes about this magnificent hall. The largest structure of the Wat Buppharam is the two storey Ho Monthian Tham, the Dhamma hall that was completed in 1996. This structure is not in the traditional Lanna style, instead is has a cruciform shape, in the center of which is a structure in the shape of a mondop or canopy. The entrance to the Dhamma hall is guarded by a creature from Hindu mythology depicted as partly sea animal, partly land animal. In front of the Ho Monthian hall is a walking Buddha image, which you can see in the foreground.(Chiang Mai, Thailand, Apr. 2014) |
