Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Fannyside Muir The parallel lines are evidence that peat has been cultivated from this area at some time in the past.

The heather has now regrown. It takes around 2000 years for 1 foot of peat to form from the decomposition of vegetable matter (heather). Peat has been extracted from the Fannyside area for hundreds of years.

The two main uses would be as fuel and in horticulture.
