If anyone wishes a narrow insertion one row of thesquare and stars bordered by an edge will be very pretty. This trimming is not difficult, yet requires some practice in crochet.One row of the three pa^-ern shapes of which the trimming is composedgive alone a pretty insertion, and are crocheted separately, beginning inthe middle, yet must be joined In the course of the work, see the illustra-tion. Each square is begun with 12 ch. closed to a ring; then follow: 5 ch., 1 tr. in the last ch., which finishes the ring, * 5 ch., 2 tr., meshed off loopingthe cotton over once, in the first ch., 7 ch., i sc. in the next ring-ch., 7 ch., 2 tr. meshed together looping cotton over once, in the next ring-ch. andrepeat three times from star.
