A small napkin used with fruitand wine and also for placing under cups, andwherever a small napkin would be required.Doyleys of a larger size are also made forplacing under cheese, hot potatoes, hot rolls,corn on the ear, fish and butter. These doyleysshould be made of good damask linen, withthe edge fringed or hemstitched. A suitabledesign is usually embroidered in the corner,around the border or scattered over the entire surface. Carving Cloth.—A piece of linen to be placed under meat, fish andgame platters in or-der to protect thetable cloth whencarving. The sizedepends upon thesize of platters, andas many carvingcloths will.be neededas different sizes ofplatters are used. The cloth should come out beyond the edge of the plat-ter at least three or four inches. The edge can be hemstitched or fringed,

Itcan be enlarged to correct working size by means of the pantagraph. Thedesign should be five times its present size. The water lines should beworked with old blue etching silk, using two shades, a light and a dark; thefish net should be worked with a light tan; the star and jelly fish v/ithpale old rose, and the fish and dragon in the net with a combination of allthe shades here given. Simple outline stitch will be all that is necessary forworking the entire design. Table Runner.—A long scarf of linen, satin damask, silk orbolting silk, having ends or sides decorated with needlework. This runneris to be placed down the exact center of the table, and should reach withinten inches of either end. the width of the runner depends upon the widthof table, but from twenty to twenty-seven inches
