The Scottish National Antarctic Expedition, coveringa period of nearly two years, and comprising twoseparate voyages of the Scotia, achieved much usefulgeographical work. To the Scotia belongs thecredit of having attained a latitude of 740 1 South.Burroughs Wellcome & Co. supplied the entire medicalequipment, which gave the utmost satisfaction. The chart on the opposite page gives some idea ofthe latitudes reached by explorers at the earthsextremities, north and south, daring recent years.
