Summary
[edit]DescriptionFallen horse chestnut 2 - geograph.org.uk - 427344.jpg |
English: Fallen horse chestnut 2 This aged, somewhat rotten, horse chestnut tree suddenly gave up and fell over on the afternoon of Monday, April 30, 2007 - possibly disturbed by the Folkestone earthquake the previous Saturday which was felt in the village. The ducks won't be nesting in the hole half way up the trunk any more. Three hours later the Highways Department were clearing the debris from the road and the gateway to Chantry House, the road was blocked for several hours.
The tree in its former glory may be seen on the left in this picture https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/238283 Other pics of the clearance operation https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/427332 https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/427361 https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/427377 https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/427389 |
