English: Faithful servant's grave. The grave of Richard Emmett, who died in 1870 at the age of 84.
"He lived for many years as a faithful and attached servant at Ffynone with John Colby Esq. by whom this monument is erected as a tribute of esteem and regard for the memory of a departed friend." The sentiment sounds touchingly genuine - not surprising when you reflect that John Colby 1382038 must have spent the first 24 years of his life with this man at his beck and call! |
