English: Faireys Play Soccer- a Women's Football Match Between Fairey and Av Roe, Fallowfield, Manchester, Lancashire, England, UK, 1944
The Fairey team with their coach, Mr O'Conner, following their six-nil win over the AV Roe team on the snow-covered Manchester Athletic Club ground at Fallowfield. Left to right, they are: Marion Benson (right inside), Doris Beeston (centre forward), Phyllis Hatkinson (centre half), Alice Cocker (left back and captain), Frances Finch (right outside), May Grimwood (left outside), Mr G O'Conner, Helena Griffin (right half), Betty Stanhope (goal), Betty Morley (right back), Vera Hulme (left half) and Sheila Love (left inside). According to the original caption, Mr O'Conner was a professional coach before the war and trained Verviers, a first division Belgian team. "His best players at the Faireys, he says, are the captain Alice Cocker, his right outside Frances Finch and his centre forward Doris Beeston".
