Summary

[edit]
Description Fairey Gannet AS.1 aboard the Royal Australian Navy aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne (R21). Melbourne and the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Hornet (CVS-12) participated in exercise "Sea Dog", in July 1967. The exercise included the protection of a convoy from attaking carrier aircraft and from submarines. This must have been one of the last exercises for the RAN Gannets, which were replaced by Grumman S-2E Trackers in 1967. Most were subsequently scrapped.
