English: Factory Welfare Work- Welfare at Pilkington's Glass Factory, St Helens, Lancashire, England, UK, 1944 The welfare facilities at the glass factory include 45 acres of recreation grounds. The grounds comprise bowling greens, tennis courts, cricket grounds and football pitches. Pensioners of the firm make full use of the recreation grounds and have a pavilion of their own, which they run as a club. Here a large group sit in front of the pavilion to enjoy a cricket match (not pictured) in the sunshine. |
