English: Lt. Cmdr. Anjaliva Petersen, assigned to Danish Defense Command, Naval Staff, from Copenhagen, Denmark, joined the service in 2003 and finished the naval academy in 2008.
Petersen is having an amazing time getting to know her fellow Sailors from around the world. She said that although this is her first Rim of the Pacific exercise she has had unforgettable experiences and made lifelong friends. “I love RIMPAC, it’s fantastic,” said Petersen. “I am so amazed by the sheer amount of participation and devotion by all of the Sailors from all the nations involved. We are all such individuals, from different commands and different nationalities, and yet we are able to come together in good spirit and comradery and help each other evolve.” Petersen’s role at RIMPAC centers around Mine Warfare Operations and planning RIMPAC fleet exercises. “I joined the Navy because I wanted a better education in leadership and management,” said Petersen. “I wanted to learn in a more hands-on environment. What I love most about being a leader in the Navy is that your people are what determine your success and achievements, not just books and a piece of paper.” (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 2nd Class Jeff Troutman)
