Summary

Description
English: Duraid Qureshi received his early education in Karachi and Islamabad and went on to complete his MBA from the prestigious Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). He began his professional career by working with different organizations in various capacities before becoming the CEO of Moomal Entertainment, a private television production house, which he soon transformed into Pakistan's largest private production house.

In the early years of 2000, international channels, particularly with Indian content, were gaining popularity in Pakistan and foreign culture was being imposed on young minds. Duraid Qureshi recognized the need to launch his own channel with a core focus on presenting Pakistani culture, laying the foundation of HUM Network Limited to accomplish this goal. ‘HUM TV’, with its high-quality content, ended the unchallenged rule of foreign content and gave viewers a platform to enjoy only Pakistani content at its best. Today, ‘HUM TV’ is not only popular in Pakistan and neighbouring countries, but it is also watched by Urdu/Hindi speaking communities worldwide. Additionally, HUM TV has given Pakistani artistes, writers, directors and production teams an international platform to showcase their immense talent and be recognized globally. Soon after HUM TV came into being, Duraid Qureshi launched South Asia's first and the world's third 24-hour culinary TV channel, ‘HUM Masala’ in 2006 to showcase the diverse range of Pakistani cuisine to the world. HUM Masala shows not only gained popularity worldwide, they also gave local audiences a chance to introduce new and innovative dishes on their dining tables. The chefs associated with the channel have become household names in Pakistan. The network also organizes ‘Masala Family Festival’ twice a year in which thousands of people participate and meet their favorite celebrity chefs. Keeping in mind the unique street and cultural dressing, Duraid Qureshi is credited with introducing the diverse fashion culture of Pakistan, its fashion designers and their art to the world with the launch of HNL's third television channel, 'Style 360'. Dedicated to fashion and lifestyle, the channel highlights local fashion talent and artisans, and also airs international fashion shows to educate and entertain local audiences in the world of international fashion. Under 'Style 360', the network also organizes the annual ‘HUM Bridal Couture Week’, ‘HUM Showcase’ and ‘HUM Style Awards’, the highly anticipated events of the Pakistani fashion calendar. The network also runs G.L.A.M Magazine online, which is dedicated to fashion and entertainment. In 2010, Duraid Qureshi came up with another unique idea for Pakistan with the launch of the country's first youth-based television channel 'Oye', to engage the younger generation in a positive way and bring them closer to their roots. Additionally, he launched a radio channel 'FM 96.4', dedicated to music in 2009. Pakistan's news media with its sensationalized and abrupt breaking news culture, had become a source of depression and hopelessness in society. To counter this, Duraid Qureshi and HNL once again came up with a courageous decision to change the news culture and norms in the country, setting a new standard for sensible and objective journalism. In 2018, HNL launched HUM News, and in a short span of five years, it has climbed up the ranks and is now considered one of the tier-1 news channels in Pakistan. The channel's reporters and anchors are some of the most respected names in the industry and have represented the positive side of the country with their hard-hitting journalism, fearless and objective reporting on sensitive topics. Overall, HUM News is a breath of fresh air in the Pakistani news landscape. Its dedication to independent, investigative and inspirational journalism has won over viewers and critics alike, and its aim is to continue making waves in the years to come. HNL has also launched a regional language channel 'HUM Pashto1', to cater to the Pashto speaking community. To support and revive the declining Pakistani film industry, Duraid Qureshi launched ‘HUM Films’. The company markets Pakistani films worldwide and has successfully distributed several movies in Europe, USA, Canada and other international territories. ‘HUM Films’ is the only Pakistani film distribution company that has direct links with international cinema chains, and it has opened new areas for Pakistani films such as Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and Algeria. The company has also released a Pakistani film in China after a gap of 40 years and has delivered box-office hits such as ‘Bin Roye’, ‘Superstar’ and ‘Parwaaz Hai Junoon’. Thanks to HUM Films, Pakistani movies are gaining worldwide recognition and appreciation.

Under Duraid Qureshi’s leadership, HNL is now viewed by Urdu/Hindi speaking communities in the Middle East, UK, Europe, Canada, USA, Australia, Bangladesh and other countries worldwide.
