Description
English: c/n 151-43629

Built 1949 with the US military serial 48-0260 Served with the 4th Fighter Interceptor Group at Langley AFB, Virginia. The unit shipped to Japan in December 1950 for service in Korea where it was based at Kimpo Airbase. 48-0260 was one of the aircraft deployed and it flew several combat missions against MiG-15s. It had returned to the United States by 1956 when it was operated by the 116th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, part of the 141st Fighter-Interceptor Group based at Geiger Field in Spokane, Washington. It was transferred to the Smithsonian Institute in 1962 and has been restored in the marking it wore with the 4th FIG in Korea. Seen on display in the Steven F. Udvar Hazy Center as part of the National Air and Space Museum. Washington Dulles International Airport, Chantilly, Virginia
