Description

21 February 2010 Gloaming Hill, Titahi Bay - more than 20 hectares of grass and scrub in flames, houses threatened by strong northerly winds fanning flames. Dry conditions allowed the fire the spread quickly through the scrubland.

The helicopters, 3 in total, were making round trips between the ocean and the fire front using sea water to protect houses lining the top of the ridge above the fire front.
