Since the first lionfish sighting off Florida in 1985, the invaders have spread throughout the Carribean, Gulf of Mexico and along the Atlantic Seaboard as far north as Rhode Island! Here, a science diver at Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary captures a lionfish specimen for research that will help us better understand and combat this threat to our marine ecosystems.
