This photo shows the official document recording the papal blessing given to the USS Capodanno (FF-1093). It was taken in 1993, when the ship made a port visit to Father Vincent Capodanno's hometown of Staten Island, New York. The document's text reads: "The Holy Father John Paul II paternally imparts his Apostolic Blessing for the USS Capodanno FF-1093 on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of the death of Father Vincent Capodanno 4th September 1981". I personally took this photo myself, and hereby release it into the public domain.
