English: FEAF Bomber Command, Japan--U.S. Air Force B-29 "Superforts" celebrated their 10th anniversary of flight September 21, 1952. In a variety of roles during the past decade, the all-weather medium bombers have served the U.S. Air Force in every clime, as North Pole weather observation planes, as "hurricane hunters" in the tropics and as search and rescue aircraft. Their greatest service, of course, has been as a high flying, dependable bombing platform, a role that is currently bringing them new recognition in daily strikes against Communist targets in Korea. Here, one of the nocturnal bombers take off at sunset into stormy skies for another mission over Korea. Then, the powerful plane will return to its base in the early hours of morning, after having knocked out another Red supply area, marshaling yard or other important target.
