Summary

[edit]
Description The Harry Hoxsey’s reputed cure for cancer, though manufactured and distributed in a single state, attracted cancer patients from around the country. Since FDA’s jurisdiction over commodities extended only to those moving in interstate commerce, in 1957 the agency distributed this poster to every post office, inspired by the FBI’s “most wanted” posters. Hoxsey’s efforts to ban the poster failed.
