Title
FADEB2a.JPG head stud brooch
Description
English: Roman copper-alloy Head stud Brooch, 38mm long and 13mm wide. The brooch is corroded and the catchplate, spring and pin are missing. The brooch has a narrow spring casing from which emerges the body of the brooch. The bow curves outwards then just before the middle of its length it sharply turns inward, forming an arch 16mm deep. At the foot it widens slightly, with the foot turning outwards. The upper bow has a slight protrusion, which is plain. Below this are the remains of an incised ridge running the length of the bow and tapering inwards towards the foot. There are traces of red enamel in this area. The foot turns outwards and widens and has three mouldings above it.
