Description A U.S. Navy Grumman F8F-1B Bearcat of Fighter Squadron 3A (VF-3A) "Tomcatters" landing aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge (CV-33). VF-3A was assigned to Carrier Air Group 3 (CVG-3) aboard the Kearsarge for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 1 June to 2 October 1948. During this deployment VF-3A was redesignated VF-31 on 7 August 1948.
