Description A Vought F4U-4 Corsair of Marine Fighter Squadron 322 (VMF-322) crashes after a fouled-up landing attempt aboard the U.S. Navy escort carrier USS Sicily (CVE-118) on 14 October 1949. Note the Landing Signal Officer (LSO, with the paddles) and his assistant (with the notepad) running to the opposite side of the flight deck.
