Description

U.S. Navy Cdr. Dick Bellinger in Vought F-8E Crusader from Fighter Squadron VF-162 Hunters launches "Zuni" rockets against a target in South Vietnam in 1966. VF-162 was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 16 (CVW-16) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany (CVA-34) for a deployment to Vietnam from 26 May to 16 November 1966.

On 14 July, Cdr. Bellinger had been hit by a North Vietnamese Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17 in F-8E 150908. He tried to reach Da Nang Air Base but had to eject when his fuel ran out. He was rescued by a helicopter.
