Description
English: The U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer USS Claude V. Ricketts (DDG-5) steams in plane guard position astern of the aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La (CVA-38), not visible, while two Vought F-8E Crusader (BuNo 150341, 150648) of Fighter Squadron 62 (VF-62) "Boomerangs" pass overhead. VF-62 was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 10 (CVW-10) aboard the Shangri-La for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 15 February to 20 September 1965. Note the Kaman UH-2A Seasprite from Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 1 (HC-1) Det.38 in the lower part of the photo.
