Description	A U.S. Navy Vought F-8C Crusader (BuNo 147002) from Fighter Squadron 24 "Red Checkertails" before launching from the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31). VF-24 was assigned to Carrier Air Wing 19 (CVW-19) aboard the Bon Homme Richard for a deployment to Vietnam from 26 January to 25 August 1967. The F-8C 147002 was shot down by flak over North Vietnam on 11 June 1967. The pilot ejected and was rescued.
