English: A North American F-86A-5-NA Sabre (s/n 49-1127) from the 4th Fighter Interceptor Wing at an airfield in Korea, probably Suwon, in 1951. In the background is a Douglas C-124A Globemaster II (s/n 49-256) from the 315th Air Division (Combat Cargo). Original caption: "A tiny F-86 "Sabre" jet of the U.S. Air Forces 4th Fighter Interceptor Wing in Korea is dwarfed by a giant C-124 "Globemaster II" which has airlifted a heavy tonnage of priority combat supplies to this Korean airstrip. Unity in the overall mission of the U.S. Far East Air Force is exemplified--FEAF transports of the 315th Air Division (Combat Cargo) daily airlift vital aircraft parts to keep the fighters operational; the fighters in turn maintain UN air supremacy which protects airfields from hostile aircraft attack." |
