Description A U.S. Navy Grumman F-14A Tomcat from Fighter Squadron VF-102 Diamondbacks is ready to launch on deck of the aircraft carrier USS America (CV-66), during "Fleet Exercise 1-86" in 1986. VF-102 was assigned to the America for a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea from 10 March to 14 September 1986. The Royal Navy Leander-class frigate HMS Apollo (F70) is visible in the background.
