Summary
[edit]DescriptionEzzard Charles Drive, Betts-Longworth Historic District, Cincinnati, OH (28226490968).jpg | These rowhouses and the neighboring walkup are part of the small fragment of the old West End that still remains and are located on the south side of Ezzard Charles Drive, which was plowed through the site of several very similar structures in the 1930s. The buildings were all built in the late 19th Century, and are Italianate in style. Today, the Betts-Longworth Historic District, which is a part of this fragment of the historic west end that survived urban renewal, and shows the grandeur, charm, and beauty that was destroyed by failed policies in the mid-20th Century, which continues to an extent in areas like South Fairmount, Camp Washington, Mount Auburn, Avondale, Clifton Heights, and Corryville. We have not learned from our mistakes, and continue to make them, which will cost many of the city's neighborhoods greatly in the future. |
