| Description |
English: Eyeworth Pond, New Forest Eyeworth Pond was created when a small stream from Howen Bottom was dammed in order to provide a suitable head of water for the Shultze gunpowder factory at Eyeworth. The original proposal was for a much larger reservoir, but this was rejected. The later proposal for a smaller dam (the one implemented here) was accepted as it was thought that it would not detract from the character of the New Forest.
This view is looking upstream from the dam at the western edge of the pond. |
