Summary
[edit]DescriptionEye Kettleby Lock - geograph.org.uk - 1280582.jpg |
English: Eye Kettleby Lock. On the former Melton Mowbray Navigation. This closed to navigation as far back as August 1877 as a result of competition from the railways, but a society does exist which is looking to reopen the navigation, including the connecting Oakham Canal http://www.waterways-society.co.uk/
The lock appears to have had normal gates at the lower end but guillotine gates at the upper end. For of how it could look with water in the lock see 336041 |
