In the home demonstration work among the Xegro women andgirls 67 agents were employed. The work conducted by these agentswas largely along the same lines as that for the white people. Thereports of these Xegro women indicate that perhaps more was ac-complished in improving living conditions of the limited numberof women reached than in any other branch of the service. Notonly were the living conditions in the home improved, but valuableinstruction and demonstrations were given in sanitation, improvingthe home surroundings, equipping the home, preparation of food,and selection and making of the clothing. One of the most notable 14 Department Circular 190, U. S. Dept. of Agriculture. features, perhaps, is the assistance and advice that has been given inthe care of the children and in sickness of all kinds.
