EXPLICATION DES PLANCHES. 269 PLANCHE IV. Qui représente les nerfs de la Face. On voit dans cette planche les deux classes distinctes desaerfs qui vont à la face. Les uns président à la sensibilité , lesautres au mouvement, et surtout auxmouvemens de la paroleet de lexpression, cest-à-dire aux mouvemens qui dépen-dent des organes respiratoires. On y voit aussi les nerfs du côté du col. Jai découvert que«es nerfs sont pourvus de deux racines et quils remplissentdeux fonctions» Ils font agir lappareil musculaire et donnentla sensibilité à la peau.Outre ces nerfs réguliers qui possèdentles propriétés communes, on voit encore les nerfs de la gorge.Ces derniers nerfs sont des rameaux du grand sympathiquequi unissent les mouvemens du col et de la gorge avec ceuxdes narines et des lèvres, non-seulement pendant la déglu-tition et létat dexcitation de la respiration, mais aussi danslexpression de la passion. Nerfs de la première séries ou nerfs primitifs 9réguliers. A.
