English: Brigadier General Edward D. Banta (left center), the commanding general of the 2nd Marine Logistics Group, poses for a photo with Staff Sgt. Brandon R. Trent (right), a Lawrence, Kan. Native, and explosive ordnance disposal technician with 2nd EOD Company, 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd MLG, and his family after a Bronze Star Medal award ceremony aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., April 4, 2014. Trent earned the medal with combat distinguishing device for his actions disarming improvised explosive devices while deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2013. In a period of less than 24 hours, Trent rendered nine improvised explosive devices safe during a clearing operation in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Trent worked into the night, uncovering and disarming additional IEDs along the way. He manually approached and disarmed two of the IEDs after exhausting remote deactivation methods. |
